Privacy policy

Curiendo by TutorCentrix is a service of Docyrus, Inc. This Privacy Policy explains, at a general level, how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit curiendo.com or use the Curiendo app, including Curiendo Family and the learner experience.
If your child is enrolled through a school, additional terms and your school's own privacy notice may also apply. See “When your school provides Curiendo” below.

1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Curiendo, we may collect information such as:
- Guardian account information: name, email address, phone number where provided, password, and communication preferences.
- Family child profiles: for a child you add yourself, only a name you choose, an age band, and a language. We do not collect a birth date, an email address, or a photograph for a family-added child.
- School learner information: where a school provides Curiendo, the information that school shares with us for that learner, described further in “When your school provides Curiendo” below.
- Learning information: activity, responses, learning evidence, progress, and content your child creates within an experience.
- Payment information: subscription and purchase records for Curiendo PRO, Curiendo PRO Family, and Curiendo Credits, handled by our payment processor.
- Communications: messages you send us, including through family@curiendo.com.
- Technical information: device, browser, log, security, and diagnostic information needed to operate and protect the app.
We aim to collect information for defined educational, operational, safety, security, or service purposes rather than collecting information simply because it is technically possible.
2. How we use information
We may use personal information to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain Curiendo and Curiendo Family.
- Authenticate guardians and protect accounts.
- Manage guardian-child relationships and family permissions.
- Deliver learning experiences appropriate to a learner's age and progress.
- Record and present learning evidence, feedback, and progress.
- Process authorized transactions and maintain commercial records.
- Provide customer support.
- Improve accessibility, usability, and service performance.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate misuse, fraud, safety risks, and security incidents.
- Meet legal and contractual obligations.
- Communicate about the service and, where permitted, relevant updates.
Curiendo is designed to avoid surveillance-style educational analytics. We do not rely on facial emotion recognition, biometric attention tracking, or hidden psychological profiling to understand how your child is learning.
3. Two kinds of child profile
A child in Curiendo is one of two things, and we keep the difference clear:
- A school learner: the school owns the record, issues and verifies the guardian relationship, and decides what learner and educational information is shared with us and with you.
- A family-added child: the profile belongs to your family account. It has no sign-in and no school, and holds only the name, age band, and language you provide. You confirm when adding a profile that the child is yours to add.
Nothing about a family-added child reaches a school, and a school record never becomes your family's data.
4. When your school provides Curiendo
Where your child's school provides Curiendo, the school may determine how certain learner and educational information is used within its educational context.
Docyrus, Inc. may process that information on the school's behalf, while separately handling information necessary for account security, service operation, billing, support, and legal compliance.
Families should also review the privacy information provided by their child's school, where available.
5. Learner and child privacy commitments
We follow several core principles for learner and child information:
- We do not sell learner personal information.
- We do not use learner information for targeted advertising to children.
- We do not allow creators or advertisers to commercially target an individual learner using educational records.
- Curiendo is never a child marketplace. Learners do not see prices, purchase content, manage Curiendo Credits, or receive creator advertising.
- A child's work stays private by default unless an authorized sharing action takes place.
- We aim to collect meaningful learning evidence rather than unnecessary behavioral surveillance data.
- We do not use learner information to make autonomous high-stakes decisions about admission, discipline, diagnosis, special education classification, or similar matters.
Schools and families each carry their own responsibilities for the learner and family information within their part of the service.
6. AI-assisted features
Curiendo may use AI-assisted features to support learning, explanation, accessibility, and other functions.
Our AI companion identifies itself as AI, does not claim to be human, and is not designed to encourage emotional dependency or secrecy from a trusted adult.
We aim to limit personal information supplied to external service providers to what is necessary for the requested function, and to exclude personal identifiers where the task does not require them.
Learner information is not intended to be used to train unrelated general-purpose AI models.
AI does not make autonomous decisions about admission, discipline, diagnosis, or special education classification.
9. Data retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide the service, maintain legitimate records, resolve disputes, and meet applicable legal requirements. Different categories of information may have different retention periods.
You can permanently remove a family-added child's profile, including their home learning records, from your account at any time. What is removed is shown to you first. Your library, Curiendo Credits, and receipts remain, because they belong to your account, not to the child's profile.
Removing an optional placement or subscription does not delete educational evidence already recorded.
10. Security
We use administrative, organizational, and technical safeguards intended to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure.
Certain actions, such as making a purchase or permanently removing a child's profile, require a recent sign-in from an adult to confirm the request came from you.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. Protecting your account credentials is also your responsibility.
11. International use
Curiendo may serve families in multiple countries. Information may therefore be processed in a country other than the one you are in, subject to applicable agreements and legal safeguards.
12. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of certain personal information, or to object to certain processing.
You can review, update, or delete much of your family's information directly from your account, including removing a family-added child's profile.
Where information is controlled by a school, some requests may need to be handled through that school. We may need to verify identity or guardian status before responding to a request involving learner information.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Curiendo evolves or legal requirements change. The current version and its effective date will be published on this page.
